Is it possible to produce materials from wine wasting? AgroMateriae, an Italian company, has innovated the use of all agro-industrial waste by creating technological biofillers that can be used by the world of plastics. The WinePlastics Filler, aka WPL, is AgroMateriae's first patented and soon-to-be-released product.

WPL is a powder made from wine waste by means of green processes. This technological biofiller is a semi-finished product that can be blended from 5 to 60 percent with all existing plastics and bioplastics using conventional equipment to create attractive new materials.

As AgroMateriae says on its website, WPL improves mechanical properties, increases the speed of biodegradation, has lower final product costs, is 100% bio-based, can be used with polymers and biopolymers, and can be used in extrusion, injection molding, thermoforming, and 3D-FDM printing.
 
"Our idea is to create a platform able to transform agricultural by-products into new materials for the plastic industry, solving at the same time the waste management of agro-industrial companies and the need for new eco-sustainable materials felt by many sectors of the plastic world," writes AgroMateriae.
