REALLY PROUD OF THE INNOVATIVE OLYMPIC TRACK PRODUCED BY MONDO GROUP
Did you see the final of the men's 100m at the Tokyo Olympics? Italy's Marcell Jacobs won the race. He set a new European record. Jacobs' winning time of 9.80 seconds on Sunday saw him inish 0.04 seconds ahead of the USA's Fred Kerley in second and 0.09 seconds ahead of Canada's Andre De Grasse in third.
MONDOTRACK WS COMES FROM ITALY
Marcel Jacobs ran on the brand new athletics track Mondotrack WS, supplied by MONDO, which means world in Italian. The material for the Olympic track was produced in just two months at the Mondo plant in Alba in Italy and arrived in Tokyo exactly a month later, in July 2019. After a further four months, an expert team from Kuriyama Corporation (Mondo's Japanese partner) completed the surface installation process and the track was subsequently tested and certified by the Japanese Athletic Federation.
MANUFACTURING FLOORING SURFACES SINCE 1948
I am really proud of Mondo. It was founded in Alba, Italy, in 1948 as a ball manufacturer for handball. MONDO nowadays is the global leader in the track and field, turf and indoor sport flooring markets, and manufacturing flooring surfaces for virtually every application. More than 1,100 MONDO tracks and millions of square feet of the company's high-performance athletic surfaces are installed in facilities worldwide.
THE OLYMPIC ORGANIZING COMMITTEE CHOSE THE ITALIAN COMPANY IN 1976
Mondo's story, and that of the Olympic Games, is a story that stretches back forty-five years. It was 1976 when the Organizing Committee of the Montreal Summer Olympics chose MONDO for one of its tracks: it was the first Olympic supply contract which opened the doors to subsequent agreements.
