We couldn't have missed the 27th Fakuma international trade fair for plastics processing. This week PlasticFinder and Interpolimeri took part in the international trade fair Fakuma in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism in the State of Baden-Württemberg hit the nail on the head saying: "Fakuma is the ideal venue for presenting new products and technological solutions, as well as for discussing trendsetting issues."

NEW EDITION FOCUSED ON THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

The circular economy is one of the main themes of this year's event. In addition to the issues of injection moulding, extrusion technology and thermoforming, the industry has highlighted digital transformation in the plastics processing industry, as well as the changeover from a linear to a circular economy. "The issue of recycling and the transformation from a linear to a circular economy are on the agenda for many companies," says Annemarie Schur, Fakuma project manager, "and thus Fakuma is contributing to increasing the awareness of circular economy, recyclability, product lifecycles and product design to an even greater extent."

THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY DEALS WITH SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

Scheduled from the 12th through to the 16th of October, the exhibition has been presenting innovation in plastics processing. "The plastics industry – plastics manufacturers and processors, manufacturers of plastics processing machines and users alike – have never had to deal with forward-looking issues and sustainable solutions as urgently as they do at the moment," notes Bettina Schall, managing director of P.E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY IS MUCH MORE THAN JUST RECYCLING AND REUSE

"Circular economy is much more than just recycling and reuse. It's a new business model that we promote with our marketplace. For this reason we are at the 27th Fakuma international trade fair. Once again we want to share the vision and mission of our platform where supply and demand for plastics can meet," adds Stefano Chiaramondia, president of PlasticFinder.
