MONEY-BACK SCHEME WILL PROMOTE THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Supermarket giant Tesco has announced that it will introduce a deposit fee on plastic bottles, in order to create a cost-effective return system. The initiative will require that people pay an extra charge when they buy a drink in a plastic bottle. This fee will then be refunded when they return the bottle to the supermarket. The programme has already worked well in Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, boasting return rates of 95 per cent. The deposit collection system will promote the global circular economy ✔
