"The linear economy is broken. Our plastic system is broken. Just 2% of plastic is recycled into the same or similar quality applications," said Alice Bodreau, strategic partners manager of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, at the Circular Economy Summit organized by The Innovation Alliance and Greenplast fair. According to Bodreau, "without bold action the plastic pollution problem will get much worse as consumption surges. In 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean. Plastics' share of oil consumption will rise dramatically and plastics' share of carbon budget will grow exponentially."
