BANANA LEAVES INSTEAD OF PLASTIC PACKAGING. COULD THEY BE THE ALTERNATIVE TO ALL PLASTIC PRODUCTS?

Vietnamese supermarkets such as Lotte Mart, Saigon Co.op, and Big C are using banana leaves instead of plastic as a packaging alternative for fruit and vegetables. The Lotte Mart chain is testing this innovative packaging procedure and it is ready to replace plastics with leaves nationwide. The grocery chain is going to use the leaves for fresh meat products as well. Customers have praised the effort. We also praise it. However, we want to ask another question: is banana leaves packaging an alternative to plastics for all products?
